Number 1.

OBAMA

I think most people would agree that Barack Obama winning the American Presidential election was a victory for more than just the citizens of America, as was evidenced by the celebrations that took place around the world. America had become synonymous with corruption, racism and unintelligent, however upon the victory of Obama these views are being replaced with more positive perceptions. As Barack stated during his victory speech "change has come to America", Obama represents what can be achieved when you combine desire, action and intelligence.

I doubt his presidency will be an easy one, as we head towards a worsening economic crisis, tension rising in the Middle East with Israel attacking Hamas and terrorists attacks an ongoing threat as evidenced by the attack in Mumbai. However, I do believe that he is the best person for the job and has chosen his staff based on their credentials and not their political alliance to him, thus highlighting his desire to achieve the best possible results for each crisis.

The election campaign also, bought about a wealth of creative out put ranging from posters to songs and adverts. Which created a buzz around the election and therefore drawing greater numbers of people into the political process who wanted to learn more about policies and how they effect them. This has helped to enrich civil society which can only be a positive step in democratic societys.
